Q. When applying for a library card, do I need to have proof of residence besides my driver's license?

Library cards are FREE to New Hanover County residents and property owners, students of any school in New Hanover County, and active military personnel stationed in New Hanover County and teachers from schools in New Hanover County are eligible for a free Educator card.

Resident Adult cards are valid for 3 years and can be renewed if there are no fees or blocks attached to the customer record.

As a New Hanover County resident, 18 or older,  you will need a photo ID with proof of address to obtain a library card.
