This discrepancy is due to the fact that only NHCPL holds in NCDL are displayed in the catalog. The TLC catalog software is unable to reflect all of the holds placed for other library members of NCDL.  

Holds in NCDL can also be affected by "Advantage" copies (those purchased for specific use of a member library's patrons). Because some copies of titles belong to specific member libraries, and their users are given priority for holds on those copies, users may jump forward or move backward on the wait list, so wait time can unfortunately not always be accurately estimated.
