Absolutely!

Children under 18 of an adult resident of New Hanover County, as well as non-resident students under the age of 18 enrolled in private or charter schools in New Hanover County, are eligible for a Resident Juvenile card.

To get their own card:

  • they must visit the library with a parent or guardian
  • the adult must provide a photo ID and proof of residency
  • the adult must agree to be financially responsible for any lost or damaged items
  • the child’s card will be linked to the adult's account as the responsible party
  • non-resident students need the above plus proof of student status

Children 16 or older who meet registration requirements can also register for their own card.
